RYAZAN, December 8 The Sovetsky District Court of Ryazan extended the detention of Alexander Glebov, a native of the Vologda region, who shot a policeman, by 72 hours, a correspondent reports from the courtroom.
On Wednesday, in the Ryazan village of Vysokoye, a 47-year-old native of the Vologda region, who was visited by law enforcement officers, shot a policeman with a hunting rifle. According to the regional SUSK, the man’s actions were stopped with the forceful support of employees of the National Guard, the attacker was taken to a medical facility, where he was given assistance. A criminal case has been opened regarding an attack on the life of a law enforcement officer (Article 317 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The investigation asked for Glebov's arrest.
«The Sovetsky District Court… decided to extend the period of detention… for 72 hours. Consideration of the petition was postponed until 11.00 on December 11,» — said judge Yuri Tyurin.
According to the investigation, announced at the meeting on choosing a preventive measure, Glebov “caused the death” of one employee and attempted the lives of two more who arrived to conduct a search, after which he tried to escape. He refused to testify.
The defense requested house arrest or a ban on certain activities and requested an extension of the detention period by 72 hours to provide documents and evidence to the court.
Glebov said at the meeting that he “repents very much.”
