MOSCOW, December 6. In three years, the Russian Army Theater will have a chief director, the artist Alexander Lazarev, the source said.
““Alexander Lazarev will be appointed in the near future,” said the agency’s interlocutor.
In 2022, Serbian film director Emir Kusturica received an offer to take this post, but he was inclined to stage several plays as a director. In particular, it was reported that he could make theatrical versions of his films “The Time of the Gypsies”, “Life is a Miracle” and one of the Russian or Soviet films.
Alexander Lazarev served in the Soviet Army Theater. Born on April 27, 1967 in Moscow in the family of famous Soviet actors Alexander Lazarev Sr. (1938-2011) and Svetlana Nemolyaeva. At the age of 12 he began acting in the play «Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk District» at the Moscow Academic Theater named after Vl. Mayakovsky, went on tour with his parents. In 1990 he graduated from the Moscow Art Theater School (course of Alexander Kalyagin), after which he was accepted into the troupe of the Moscow State Theater named after Lenin Komsomol. (Lenkom), where he was still one of the leading actors.
The artist also starred in music videos directed by Tigran Keosayan for songs by Mikhail Shufutinsky and Igor Krutoy.

The theater’s birthday is considered to be February 6, 1930, when the play “K.V.Zh.D.”, dedicated to the events on the border with China, was shown in Moscow. The main directors of the theater over the years were Yuri Zavadsky, Alexander Dunaev, Rostislav Goryaev, Yuri Eremin, Leonid Kheifets. From 1995 to 2020, this post was held by Boris Morozov. After that, as follows from the information on the theater’s website, the position was vacant.
