IRKUTSK, December 10 The investigation into the criminal case of arson of a school in the village of Khrebtovaya, Irkutsk Region, has been taken under control, the Irkutsk Regional Prosecutor's Office reports on the Telegram channel.
In the village of Khrebtovaya, Nizhneilimsk district, a fire broke out in a school building where major renovations were being completed on the night of December 4th. It was extinguished over an area of 600 square meters. The part that housed the kindergarten burned down. Firefighters acted quickly and did not allow the fire to spread to the main building. Experts from the fire testing laboratory of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations conducted research and concluded that the cause of the fire was arson. The materials were transferred to the investigative authorities to identify the perpetrators.
“The Nizhneilimsk District Prosecutor's Office has monitored the progress and results of the investigation of the criminal case initiated by investigators of the territorial division of the Ministry of Internal Affairs under Part 2 of Article 167 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (deliberate damage to property),” the message says.
The damage is estimated at 44 million rubles. The head of the region took the issue of restoring the kindergarten under personal control.
