ST. PETERSBURG, December 9. The court in St. Petersburg arrested the American Yuri Malev on charges of rehabilitating Nazism after his posts on the social network depicting the St. George ribbon, the joint press service of the city courts reported.

«The Smolninsky District Court of St. Petersburg granted the investigation's request to select a preventive measure in the form of detention in relation to Russian and US citizen Yuri Malev, accused of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 354.1 of the Criminal Code of Russia («Rehabilitation of Nazism»)» , says the publication.
Malev is charged with two counts. The first time he posted an image of the St. George ribbon on Odnoklassniki was on July 8, 2022, which he signed as “an identification mark of a person with a non-traditional sexual orientation, using coarse obscene language to identify this person.” In addition, on the eve of the celebration of Victory Day, May 8, 2023, he published on the same social network a photo of a corpse with instructions “how to properly wear the St. George ribbon.”
The press service of the courts noted that, as indicated consequence, by these actions Malev “expressed clear disrespect for society and the days of military glory and memorable dates of Russia associated with the defense of the Fatherland, which is an insult to the memory of the Great Patriotic War, as well as the defenders of the Fatherland and their feelings, humiliation of the honor and dignity of veterans of the Great Patriotic War, including K., born in 1937.»
Malev was detained on December 8, he was charged, and he partially admitted his guilt.
