BLAGOVESCHENSK, December 11 A tiger attacked two dogs in the village of Volnoye, Arkharinsky district of the Amur region, local residents are scared, said the deputy head of the department for protection, control and regulation of use objects of fauna and their habitat in the Amur region Valery Pogasienko.
“Volnoye village, Arkharinsky district, on the ninth, a tiger killed two dogs. He took one away, left one on the spot. A group of our specialists left,” said the agency’s interlocutor.

According to Pogasienko, the house is located on the edge of the village, right on the bank of the Arkharinskaya channel, where tigers hunt. The dogs were tied up outside the yard.

“It turned out to be an easy prey for the tiger, he jumped onto the shore – here they are, the dogs. Well, yes, he made some noise, of course,” the specialist noted.
As the head of the municipality, Tatyana Shutrina, wrote in her official Telegram channel, the tiger keeps residents of the villages of Mikhailovka, Volnoe, and Innokentyevka in fear.
“The Red Book animal drags the dogs of the residents of these villages, and then the tiger’s tracks repeatedly appear on the outskirts of settlements, not far from houses. According to people, the animal has never come so close to them before. Be vigilant,” the head wrote.

Department specialists notified local residents about the incident and precautionary measures. The employees were on duty in the village for two days, asked to keep the dogs on a chain, reminded them of the rules for keeping pets, and how to behave when meeting a tiger.

There is an assumption that the attack was carried out by the grown-up children of the tigress Elena, most likely a male, Pogasienko noted.
Tigress Elena was returned to the wild in 2019 after a rehabilitation course along with her “brother” Pavlik. The female immediately settled in the Khingan Nature Reserve in the Arkhara region of the Amur region and very rarely goes beyond its borders. In November of this year, her already grown tiger cubs – a female and a male – were recorded for the first time using a camera trap.
