An alternative crossover is intended for China. Sales there will start next year, the model will be offered with a two-liter turbo-four from the local Infiniti QX60.
This spring, Nissan surprised the public by presenting another Pathfinder crossover at the Shanghai Auto Show. It was a concept with a completely different design — as you might guess, the show car foreshadowed a model addressed to the Chinese market. The production version was shown in November at an exhibition in Guangzhou. And today it became known that an alternative Nissan Pathfinder has gone into production: the production of the new product has been launched, of course, in China — at the Dongfeng Nissan joint venture plant. Photos from the enterprise were distributed by many local media, including Autohome. Well, let us remind you that the “world” Pathfinder is made in the USA.

The Chinese SUV has original bumpers, optics and a radiator grille, and the grille is designed in the current corporate style of the brand, while the global crossover, apparently, has yet to switch to it — after restyling. The length of the “celestial” Nissan Pathfinder is 5130 mm, which is 109 mm longer than that of the “world” crossover. Width – 1981 mm (+2 mm compared to the American-made model), height, on the contrary, was trimmed by 34 mm to 1767 mm. The wheelbase of the cars is the same — 2900 mm.

The interior has also been redone: the “Chinese” has the instrument and multimedia system screens installed back to back (in the global crossover they are separate, while the central touchscreen is more compact than that of the model for the People’s Republic of China), the front panel, air deflectors and tunnel are designed differently. In the Middle Kingdom, the Pathfinder has so far been announced in a six-seat version, but a seven-seat version also seems to be available.

The Chinese crossover is equipped with a 2.0 VC-Turbo petrol turbo-four with a variable compression ratio (factory index – KR20), the engine produces 252 hp. (a similar engine is installed in the local sister Infiniti QX60; the premium crossover is also produced locally). There is no complete certainty about the gearbox yet: some specialized media write that it is a CVT, another version is a classic nine-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The global cross is equipped with an aspirated V6 3.5 (288 hp in the US specification) and 9 automatic transmission.

The alternative Nissan Pathfinder will go on sale in the first quarter of next year. It is possible that subsequently one of the Russian dealers will decide to organize “parallel” deliveries of such an SUV.
