MOSCOW, December 18 The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation will establish an annual National Prize in the field of museum affairs named after Dmitry Likhachev, said the Minister of Culture of the Russian Federation Olga Lyubimova.
““To recognize representatives of a wide variety of museum professions – curators and methodologists, restorers and researchers, caretakers and tour guides – we decided to establish the annual National Prize in the field of museum affairs named after Dmitry Sergeevich Likhachev,” she said at the strategic session project «Museum Routes of Russia» in Moscow.
The award presentation will take place at the Intermuseum festival, resumed in 2024.
According to Elena Kharlamova, director of the department of museums and external relations of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, there are already proposals to form a professional community that will select the winners.
«We will announce all the rules at the end of January , all the regulations… We hope that from February 1, we will begin accepting applications for competition in various nominations,” said Kharlamova, adding that the award provides for more than ten nominations.
Dmitry Likhachev (1906-1999) — an outstanding philologist , cultural scientist, art critic, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Author of about 500 scientific and numerous journalistic works. Made a significant contribution to the study of ancient Russian literature and art.
