KHABAROVSK, December 20 A resident of Komsomolsk-on-Amur received a sentence of 9.5 years in a maximum security colony for high treason in the form of espionage for military intelligence Ukraine, the FSB department for the Khabarovsk Territory reported on Wednesday.
According to the department, this year a man contacted a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine via the Internet “with the goal of transmitting information regarding military facilities of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in the Khabarovsk Territory.”
This information, according to the FSB, could be used for sabotage and terrorist attacks, including attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles “in areas of loading, maintenance and routes of military equipment.”
A criminal case was opened under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “High treason in the form of espionage.”
“On Wednesday, December 20, the Khabarovsk Regional Court found the Komsomol member guilty of committing the crime charged and sentenced him to imprisonment freedom for a period of nine years and six months in a maximum security correctional colony,” the release says.
The state prosecution in court in this case was supported by the Deputy Prosecutor General of Russia, State Counselor of Justice, First Class, Dmitry Demeshin.
