MOSCOW, December 19 . People's Artist of Russia Alexandra Zhigalova died at the age of 95, reported the Orenburg Drama Theater. M Gorky.
“”Sorrowful news has come to our theater. <…> People's Artist of the Russian Federation Alexandra Pavlovna Zhigalova has passed away. On the Orenburg stage for more than half a century she has played the best roles in works of world drama,” says in the publication.
It is specified that the actress passed away on December 18. The cause of death is not reported.
Alexandra Zhigalova was born on September 15, 1929. She began her stage activities in Belgorod. Since 1960 she served at the Orenburg Drama Theater. M Gorky. Among her stage works are Desdemona in Othella, Kalugina in Office Romance, Golda in Funeral Prayer, Vasilisa Egorovna in The Captain's Daughter and many others. In 1967, Zhigalova received the title of Honored Artist of the RSFSR. In 1998 she became a People's Artist of Russia.
