The cross-coupe, which is planned to be released under the Romanian brand, may enter the European market in mid-2026.
For Renault Arkana, the first market was Russia: the crossover was produced and sold here from 2019 to 2022 (in the spring, the French company decided to leave the Russian market and got rid of all local assets). In 2020, production of this model — called Samsung XM3 — was launched in South Korea. This version (already under the familiar name Arkana) was eventually exported, including to Europe.
Dacia Bigster Concept
It is expected that the Arcana will have a more affordable alternative on the European market, while its production is planned to be launched under the “budget” Romanian brand Dacia, which belongs to the Renault Group. The planned new product is reported by the Spanish publication Motor.es, citing its own sources familiar with the manufacturer's plans.
The publication noted that the inexpensive crossover will be called Dacia Bigster Coupe (although it is possible that the serial model will have a different name). Judging by the supposed name, the model will be loosely based on the Bigster concept that Dacia unveiled in early 2021. At the same time, it was reported that the production version would reach dealers in 2025; it was assumed that this SUV would be one step above the Duster in the brand hierarchy. By the way, the “third” Duster in a new corporate style debuted at the end of last month, and now Renault Duster is preparing for presentation.
According to Motor.es sources, the project to create an inexpensive cross-coupe under the Dacia brand has already been given the green light. The Bigster Coupe is expected to reach dealers in the Old World market in mid-2026. There is no information yet about what the potential new product will look like; The designer of the Spanish edition presented his vision of the future crossover.
Render of Dacia Bigster Coupe
Judging by the rendering, the front part of the cross-coupe will not differ in design from the 2021 Dacia Bigster concept. The car in the image has the same relief stampings on the hood, the same head optics, visually merging into a single element with a small radiator grille, while the headlights have LED running lights in the form of an inverted “Y”, and the current brand logo is located on the “grill”.
A large air intake is built into the lower part of the front bumper; along the perimeter of the body the model has a massive body kit made of unpainted plastic, and on the front doors there are inserts with the model name. The stern differs due to the sloping roof, a different spoiler on the top of the tailgate and the presence of a “shark fin” antenna. Most likely, the lights, just like those of an SUV with a traditional body, are designed in the form of horizontally located “games”.
It is assumed that the new Dacia product will be based on the CMF-B platform, on which the current one is based Duster. The Bigster Coupe will share the line of engines with its “brother” without the addition of “coupe”: expected hybrid versions and “alternative fuel” engines (we are probably talking about liquefied gas). The model may get all-wheel drive; the publication suggested that a manual transmission should not be expected.
