Deputy General Director of Roscosmos accused of fraud

MOSCOW, December 22 Deputy General Director of Roscosmos Oleg Frolov was accused of fraud on an especially large scale, the Investigative Committee reported on the Telegram channel.

«The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation is investigating a criminal case against the Deputy General Director of the state corporation for space activities «Roscosmos» Oleg Frolov, an individual entrepreneur, as well as a representative of a commercial organization. Each of the three defendants has been charged with committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of Russia (fraud on an especially large scale),” the publication says.

According to the investigation, Frolov, using his official position, entered into a conspiracy with two accomplices to steal budget funds during the purchase of equipment worth at least 435 million rubles.

On Friday, the court granted the investigator’s request to choose a preventive measure against the accused in the form of detention.

The press service of Roscosmos confirmed the detention of Frolov and added that details regarding the charges and investigative measures in the criminal case are under the jurisdiction of the Investigative Committee.
