Popular and anti-popular news of the week
Putin told how Russia will divide Ukraine with Europe, Zelensky could not explain where he would get troops, but other political parties did it for him began to nominate their candidates for the presidential election, the “bohemians” in Moscow shocked with their naked bodies, which shocked public opinion. This is not all that happened this week, but one cannot comprehend the immensity.
Objectively, at least some competition for Putin in the Russian presidential elections came exclusively from communists. But in the current situation, we will not really have elections for a specific person, but rather a public approval of the country’s new course, which began on February 24 last year. Therefore, party candidates are nominated on the principle of necessity, and not for the sake of victory: well, we are supposed to participate in political life, so we participate.
It is unlikely that anyone can seriously believe in the success of Nikolai Kharitonov in the elections. Now, mind you, you didn’t even immediately realize who it was. And this is a candidate from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, a State Duma deputy. The Central Council of “New People” proposed Vice-Speaker of the State Duma Vladislav Davankov. The Congress of the «Civil Initiative» nominated politician Boris Nadezhdin, and the «Russian People's Union» will nominate Sergei Baburin. Let's strain our memory, trying to remember when and under what circumstances we heard these names. Yavlinsky, who seemed to emerge from the dark and dusty corridors of Russian politics into the light, went back, deciding not to participate.
The young opposition group nominated its candidate. Not that she put it forward directly — the Central Election Commission did not register it, because the young opposition did not have the ability to copy passport numbers onto a piece of paper without errors. This is just a classic — why do something as it should be, we are for everything good, which means we can make a mistake. And most importantly, you can then write “according to the manual” in your media: the Kremlin was afraid of Putin’s main competitor and did not allow him to participate in the elections. By the way, the “old” opposition laughed out loud at these headlines. And I, having seen a similar headline somewhere on the Internet, learned about this whole funny collision.
That is, the situation is clear. And, of course, the interesting question is: what next after the course is confirmed? But the question is too extensive.
But Putin gave an answer to one of its components — what will happen to Ukraine. Speaking at the board of the Ministry of Defense, he said about the western regions of Ukraine: “The people who live there — many, in any case — I know this for sure, one hundred percent — want to return to their historical homeland. And those countries that lost these territories — and, above all, Poland — sleep and dream of returning them. In this sense, only Russia could be the guarantor of the territorial integrity of Ukraine. Do not want? No need. History will put everything in its place. We won't interfere. But we won’t give up ours.” In short, we will share. And, it seems, they share uncompromisingly: “Do they want to negotiate? Let them negotiate. But only we will do this based on our interests.”
The Kyiv regime has encountered, in addition to the reduction in Western funding and arms supplies, a new misfortune — there is no one left to fight. Zelensky said at his press conference that the military is talking about the need to mobilize another 500 thousand people, but he, they say, is still thinking about it, he cares about the people. In fact, Zelensky’s problem is that a significant part of the people have begun to take care of themselves — either running from military commissars around Ukraine, or having successfully left their homeland. The solution was found by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov, who stated that Ukrainians aged 25 to 60 years living in other countries will have to report to the conscription centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. And Europe should try to send Ukrainians from their countries to the front. German journalists, by the way, immediately found out that Umerov’s sons have American citizenship, which means they are not in danger of being drafted. But this is not the main thing. The main thing is that so far no European country, except Estonia, has expressed its readiness to send Ukrainian refugees to fight — since this is completely illegal. In Ukraine itself, they promise to set up special checkpoints for serving summonses in all cities and regions by the end of the year. Somehow, all this doesn’t look very much like the defense of the Motherland, which the whole people stands up for, don’t you think?
And our people were indignant that the “elite” did not feel the moment — they were throwing ugly “naked parties”. Actually, everything has already been said about this situation. It’s much more interesting what’s been done. And, as expected, nothing. They punished only an unknown rapper who sported only one sock. That's it.
