The large three-row crossover M9 became the third model of the young NEV brand AITO, launched in 2021 as a joint project of the IT giant Huawei and Seres company. AITO M9 can be purchased with a pluh-in hybrid or all-electric power plant, preliminary prices have been announced, pre-orders have begun, the new product will be released on the Chinese market in January.
The brand name AITO stands for Adding Intelligence to Auto, which translated into Russian means “bringing intelligence to the car,” but there is also a Chinese version of the name — Wenjie, which has been completely owned by Huawei since the summer of this year. The Chinese IT giant is aiming to become a major player in the global auto business, and AITO is just one of several of its projects in this area. The flagship crossover AITO M9 is stuffed to the gills with entertainment electronics from Huawei; it is rightly considered one of the most anticipated new products on the Chinese market and should accelerate the growth of sales of the AITO brand: from January to November of this year, according to CAAM, it sold 71,523 cars in China (+ 15.8% compared to APPG).
Overall length of AITO M9 — 5230 mm, width — 1999 mm, height — 1800 mm, wheelbase — 3110 mm. Standard equipment includes fully independent height-adjustable adaptive air suspension, front double wishbone and rear multi-link. Standard wheels are 21- or 22-inch.

The supporting body is made primarily of aluminum alloy; artificial vision organs (including lidar above the windshield) necessary for the operation of various electronic driver assistants and autopilot are organically implanted into it. The declared aerodynamic drag coefficient cx for the hybrid version of the crossover is 0.279, for the electric version it is 0.264. Smart matrix headlights are Huawei's own development; they can serve as a projector for a small outdoor cinema; you only need a wall or a tension panel for viewing.

The AITO M9 interior has a 2+2+2 seating formula, it can have up to nine screens, three of which are embedded in the front panel: instrument — 12.3 inches, central multimedia — 15.6 inches, entertainment for the front passenger — 16 -inch. The instrument screen is complemented by a 75-inch augmented reality screen on the windshield. For passengers in the second and third rows, you can order individual entertainment screens, as well as a common internal cinema — a 32-inch projection panel lowers from the ceiling, the projector itself is located under the flow in the rear of the cabin.

The entertainment soundtrack is provided by a 2080-watt Huawei audio system in 7.1.4 format, which includes 25 loudspeakers and atmospheric color music throughout the cabin. We manage a huge multimedia enterprise using the latest operating system Huawei HarmonyOS 4.0. The seats in the first and second rows are equipped with multiple adjustments, ventilation and massagers. For small items, there are a total of 41 storage spaces in the cabin. Trunk volume varies from 206 to 716 liters depending on the position of the seats.
The AITO M9 has two powertrains to choose from — plug-in hybrid and all-electric. The hybrid power plant is of the range extender type: a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine with a power of 152 hp. here it works in generator mode, and the wheels are rotated by electric motors — front with a power of 165 kW (224 hp) and rear with a power of 200 kW (272 hp). The maximum combined output of the hybrid powertrain is 365 kW (496 hp) and 675 Nm. The capacity of the traction battery is 42 or 52 kWh, the range on one charge without turning on the internal combustion engine is 225 and 275 km according to the CLTC cycle, respectively, in hybrid mode with a fully filled tank (65 l) — 1362 and 1402 km according to the CLTC cycle, respectively.
The purely electric version is also dual-engine and all-wheel drive, the power of the front motor is 160 kW (217 hp), the rear motor is 230 kW (313 hp), the maximum total output is 390 kW (530 hp) and 673 Nm. The battery capacity is 100 kWh, the range on one charge is 630 km according to the CLTC cycle.
The hybrid crossover accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, the electric one in 4. 3 s, the maximum speed of both versions is limited to 200 km/h.

The minimum pre-sale price of the hybrid AITO M9 in China is 469,800 yuan (6.04 million rubles in translation at the current exchange rate), the electric one is 509 800 yuan (6.55 million rubles).
In Russia, the companies MB RUS and Avtodom are engaged in sales of AITO cars; they will probably have the flagship M9 crossover within 2024 and the price, of course, will be much higher than in China.
