Hello, cow! Averbukh presented a new show with Medvedeva in the title role

The premiere of Ilya Averbukh’s show “Cow on Ice” took place on Wednesday in Moscow. Two-time world champion Evgenia Medvedeva, who performed in the title role, revealed new facets of her talent.
If someone immediately thinks that Medvedeva is playing a cow in this play, then this is not so. In the tale of modern writer Anton Soya, the two-time Olympic silver medalist is the dream of the cow Muli, who saw her on TV and wanted to skate just like her. Ilya Averbukh embodied the incredible and very funny adventures of this cow in his new musical.
For the famous director and producer, “Cow on Ice” is a definite challenge. “Usually we use classical plots, but here this is a modern story. This is a milestone year for me, I decided that something needs to be radically changed,” this is how Averbukh, who recently celebrated his 50th anniversary, explained the idea of the play. “And the writer called me and suggested “This is a work. I have revised it and will continue to refine it, but the basis remains. I hope you will like the story, it is very kind.”

““As many times as they called me, and not only coaches, but people in general. I won’t remember,” Medvedeva shook her head before the start of the performance, when she was asked if she remembered any epithets that characterized her during her sports career. – When I heard that I would skate a cow on ice, I thought: “Am I a cow?” But then I realized that if I were a cow, I would not have won two world championships. Who is afraid to put on a cow costume? Anyone whose self-esteem suffers. My self-esteem was and is fine.”
Olympic champion Alexey Yagudin, who plays the role of world-weary circus artist Alexei Yagodkin in the play, noted that the show as a whole is vital. “I have reached the age of 43 and am competing with a cow to see who is better,” he stated. “This is a modern fairy tale, not “The Nutcracker” or “Frost.” If they ask what “Cow on Ice” is about, I will answer – about life. “My hero had a career, then it fizzled out. Just like mine.”
AVERBUKH'S SECRET The show also featured other figure skating stars – Olympic champions Tatyana Totmyanina and Maxim Marinin, the most popular TikTok skater Artem Fedorchenko. Famous TV presenter Alla Mikheeva played the role of journalist Alla Mikrofonova. The performance also features live music, and, of course, the cow itself on ice. She performs both singles and doubles in the show – together with her dream Evgenia Medvedeva.

Who plays the role of a cow on ice is a secret that Ilya Averbukh will reveal only at the very end of the show. Those who watched the recent Russian figure skating championship may even guess who it is. But the main thing in the play is the idea that you cannot give up even in the most difficult situations. An edification for many young athletes, of whom there are probably many among the viewers of this show. And, of course, the performance has a lot of humor, wonderful figure skating, and after it – a great New Year's mood.
