“It seems like it’s thundering from everywhere”: eyewitnesses talk about the consequences of the morning attack
On Friday, Ukraine was subjected to a “dagger” response from Russia for the damaged landing ship Novocherkassk. The air raid alarm sounded throughout almost the entire territory of Independence Square. Explosions occurred in Kyiv, Lvov, Kharkov, Cherkassy, Odessa, Zaporozhye… “We have never seen so many targets simultaneously on our monitor,” said Ukrainian Air Force representative Yuriy Ignat.
According to the mayor of Kharkov, Igor Terekhov, at least 8 arrivals were recorded in the garden. Lviv Mayor Andrei Sadovyi also confirmed the attack on the city, reporting two “arrivals.” At the same time, the city administration issued a reminder that photo and video filming of attacked places is strictly prohibited. Two destroyed infrastructure facilities are reported. “A powerful combined strike: the MiG-31 fired “Daggers”, dozens of Kh-101 missiles are rushing towards Kyiv” – this notification was issued by the administration of the Ukrainian capital. Mayor Klitschko later confirmed the explosions in Kyiv. According to him, a warehouse in Podol was damaged. According to Russian military observers, drones were stored there. A total of 12 hits were confirmed in Kyiv. Many Kiev residents spent the entire morning at metro stations, where they hid from the raid. At the same time, the Lukyanovskaya metro station was damaged by fragments of Ukrainian air defense missiles. Another anti-aircraft missile damaged a high-rise building in Kyiv.
In Dnepropetrovsk, either fragments of air defense missiles or a Russian drone hit the Apollo Shopping Center near Yuzhmash. The arrival took place in the warehouse area. There were no people in the building, but the warehouses burned down. There is a version that it was not food that was stored there, but Yuzhmash products.
There were reports of an attack in Mirgorod (Poltava region). Confirmed hits on the airfield where Ukrainian bombers are based. There were hits on the airfield in Pavlograd and the Dnepropetrovsk region. Arrivals have been confirmed in the city of Smila, Cherkasy region, where there is a large railway junction through which trains with military equipment and ammunition go to the east of the country.
20 hits were recorded in Kharkov this morning. According to the Ukrainian publication “Politics of the Country”, warehouses, production facilities, transport depots, and enterprises in the city were destroyed and damaged. “At 8 am, literally in a row, like fireworks on New Year’s Day,” eyewitnesses from Kharkov report. In Zaporozhye, the blow hit the Cosmic region, where the Armed Forces of Ukraine were located. “Intensified movement of ambulances was recorded,” eyewitnesses from the scene reported.
The chat of military observer Sergei Lebedev received a number of messages from eyewitnesses of the attacks on Odessa: “The house was shaken quite badly. And after that there was a series of (explosions. -), I lost count, but it seemed to land well. When a series of explosions began, the air defense suddenly fell silent. I hope you hit it. I don’t know the area, because it seems like it’s thundering from everywhere.” By the way, the air defense in Odessa still distinguished itself: a residential high-rise building was damaged by debris.
