MOSCOW, December 27 The head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, said that he has not watched and is not going to watch the series “The Boy’s Word.”
«No, I didn't look. I didn't look at all. I was there. Why should I look? I grew up there, I was there, I worked there,» he said. To a clarifying question, he replied that he was not going to watch the series.
The premiere episodes of the series “The Boy’s Word. Blood on the Asphalt,” starring Ruzil Minekaev, Ivan Yankovsky, Sergei Burunov and Zhora Kryzhovnikov, were released in the Wink and Start online cinemas on November 9. The series tells the story of youth criminal gangs against the backdrop of perestroika. It caused a significant stir. Social networks and the media published reports that after the release of “The Boy’s Word,” teenagers in the Sarmanovsky district of Tatarstan created Telegram channels, which were named after two well-known Kazan organized crime groups in the past. The teenagers divided the area into spheres of influence and assigned “arrows” to their opponents in the created channels. They also posted videos of the fights in instant messengers. The participants in the correspondence themselves told the police that it was a game, and a preventive conversation was held with the teenagers.
Against the backdrop of these messages, Tatarstan Children's Ombudsman Irina Volynets appealed to Roskomnadzor with a demand to check “The Boy’s Word” for compliance with the decree of the President of the Russian Federation on state policy to preserve and strengthen traditional Russian spiritual and moral values and to ban its broadcast. Volynets emphasized that the series, despite the “18+” label, is downloaded and watched by children, on whose psyche, in her opinion, it has a destructive effect. Also, the chairman of the State Duma Committee for Family Protection, Nina Ostanina, addressed the Investigative Committee and Roskomnadzor with a request to check the series for the purpose of promoting a dangerous lifestyle for teenagers. Later, Roskomnadzor reported that it had not identified any violations of Russian legislation in the series.
Meanwhile, Tatarstan Prosecutor Albert Suyargulov came to the defense of the series, saying that “separate forces” may try to use “The Boy’s Word” in their interests, but he has the right to life as a form of art, and thinking people always draw the right conclusions from any series.
