YAROSLAVL, December 29Almost fifty residents of the city of Plavsk, Tula region, fell ill with an intestinal infection; one of the supposed sources of infection may be the water in the tap, the regional department of Rospotrebnadzor reported on Friday.
The Department informs that it is conducting a sanitary and epidemiological investigation into cases of intestinal infections among the population of the city of Plavsk.
«»48 cases of disease were registered. The majority of those examined were isolated from norovirus, the causative agent of acute intestinal infection. No new cases were registered over the past 24 hours. One of the supposed sources of the spread of infection may be water,» the message says.
In this regard, Rospotrebnadzor issued an order to the resource supplying organization “to carry out additional sanitary and hygienic measures to comply with sanitary requirements when organizing water supply and sanitation” in Plavsk. “Administrative offense cases have been initiated against responsible persons who violated the law. Measures have been organized to disinfect tap water, and daily laboratory control of the quality of disinfection is carried out,” the department informs.
The regional Ministry of Health reported that the sick people were examined and outpatient treatment was prescribed. The situation is under the control of the Minister of Health, the press service of the ministry emphasized.
A representative of the Tula Region Prosecutor's Office reported that the Plavsk District Prosecutor's Office organized an investigation based on information posted on the VKontakte social network about the appearance of nausea and vomiting in some residents of Plavsk after using the water supply. Prosecutors will evaluate the organization of water supply in the area.
