MOSCOW, November 14. Active tours around Russia, the world, performances in front of soldiers of the Northern Military District — «SOPRANO Turetsky» has a big tour ahead in honor of the 15th anniversary of the group. The singers spoke in interviews about unexpected situations during concerts, how they are received abroad, and how easy it is for a female group with a male leader.
Tours around the planet: Russian songs are sung by the whole world
— You are currently touring Asia. Is there a difference between our audience and foreign ones, especially Asian ones?
Iveta: There is not much difference. In addition, we try to sing in the language of the country in which we perform — this is our rule.
— How are songs in Russian received?
Tatyana: Great! Some are even better than their own. For example, «Dark eyes». If a composition has power, it erases all boundaries.
Iveta: In Brazil they wrote to me that our language is very colorful and bright, because there are many consonants. And this emphasizes our energy.
Daria: The Chinese sing along with us! And we perform Russian and Soviet songs in Chinese and Japanese.
Provocations Ukrainians and the eyes of the North Military District fighters: how they greet girls
— Are there provocations?
Daria: In Mexico last year, protesters gathered near the hall and opposed our concert. And then they went after him.
In Sao Paulo, a man stood with the flag of Ukraine. Turetsky called him on stage. At this moment we began to perform “Moscow Evenings”. And you know, this guy sang with us. In Russian. The Russian flag appeared immediately nearby. That's how they sang the great song.
Iveta: But we are sure that if we come anywhere in the world, be it Europe or the USA, they will listen to us.
— You are speaking to the SVO soldiers. How do they receive you?
Iveta: The program is about the same, more emphasis on patriotic songs.
Tatyana: Life-affirming music. Our task is to lift the spirit, to encourage.
Iveta: They are different: they do their duty. You took an oath that, if necessary, you would essentially give your life. This is a different level of relationship. What can we give in return? Confidence that we are waiting for them.
We see these guys, including the wounded, their eyes. They don't ask for anything. Perhaps just write down congratulations to your colleagues or just take a photo.
Working with Turkish: How is the creative process going in the group
— How do you build your relationship with Mikhail Turetsky? He himself admits that he is not so strict with the female team.
Daria: There is both criticism and approval. He understands who should sing what.
Iveta: He is a conductor, director and psychologist. We can't see the big picture, but he does.
< br />— But you are creative people, you have ambitions… Are there disputes or conflicts?
Daria: You know, maybe you don’t want to sing something, but where should you go? (Laughs.) A leader is a leader.
We put aside emotions a long time ago—eight years ago.
Iveta: Perhaps they are the first minutes, but then they are only constructive. This is professionalism.
Daria: Over the years, we have come to a reasonable dialogue in the team. Of course, there are squabbles, but this is more creative than at the everyday level. There are also quarrels in the family, and we are a family!
Iveta: There are many opinions, there are nine of us — girls. (Laughs.) We are all of different genres: everyone sees and wants to do something different. But Mikhail Turetsky comes: “Now it’s my producer’s word!” (Laughs.) And that’s all.
— Recently there was a feeling that there was no place for fun. This is due to both the pandemic and the SVO. What is the mood of the audience now?
Tatyana: Yes, at first we felt that the audience did not want to go to the performances. But today, on the contrary, people desire spiritual food. We not only entertain: our compositions contain a lot of philosophy, personal stories, and patriotism.
Iveta: This is not fun, this is fulfillment! As Turetsky tells us: “You tell women’s stories.” This resonates with both women and men.
Daria: People want to understand that everything is not so bad.
The team's anniversary: plans for the new season
— What are your plans for the near future?
Tatyana: For now we are touring Asia: China, Laos, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia.
Iveta: Perhaps closer to summer we will go to Latin America again. But now the main focus is on Russia. We are 15 years old! The tour has started — it includes 70 cities.
— The group has existed for so many years, actively tours, they love you very much. How did you manage to achieve such a result?
Tatyana: Love for quality music since childhood.
Daria: Besides, this is work. You need to work.
Iveta: Turetsky was able to select people who can coexist both on stage and in life. Despite the fact that we all have different voices, even if they are sopranos. Different vocal schools. It's difficult, but interesting! If we were the same, then, like any such female group, we would quickly break up.
Daria: We admire each other. We listen to each other and find something new.
— Usually on an anniversary everyone takes out stories from the crypt. How did you get into the team?
Daria: Casting, by the way, began on March 8, 2009. The girls were selected for several days: in the end, 40 people were divided into four groups of ten. We learned to sing together and be friends. There is only one group left, five soloists are still in the group to this day.
At the casting itself there was no competition: we sat in the kitchen and drank tea. In addition, this is not a classic show business group, where they recruit clearly. Votes and education were key here. Appearance, of course, too. But not primarily.
Iveta: But, by the way, at the last stage several girls did not make it into the group because they were not bright enough in appearance.
— The stage is merciless to age. Aren't you afraid of being unnecessary?
Iveta: We're not afraid. There is inner confidence in what needs to be done in different situations. In addition, Turetsky never removes a person for far-fetched reasons.
There were girls who left and returned. Mikhail answered without hesitation: “Okay.”
We don’t have a contract that prohibits, for example, giving birth. He does not hold anyone by force.
Eight ladies in one room: truth and myths about female friendship
— Are you friends and communicate outside of work?
Daria: Yes . We celebrate birthdays and all holidays together.
Tatyana: We even go on vacation together.
Daria: Not with the whole team, of course. (Laughs.) Because no one canceled personal plans. But three or four people went on vacation together. We don’t try — it comes out naturally.
— Do washing and cooking, like ordinary people, exist in life?
Tatyana: Children, washing, cooking. When we are in Moscow, we communicate with families and go on the subway. Everything is like ordinary people. We go to the cinema, to concerts with colleagues.
Iveta: With two children, I can’t say that I have time to cook. (Laughs.) It’s better if we all go to a cafe together for a picnic.
— What do you think the team lacks?
Iveta: Author's music. I want more. There is material, but there is no time to write it down. But we are on the way to this.
