Stellantis Corporation is parting with the legendary family of V8 HEMI gasoline engines for a painfully long time: in the case of the Dodge Durango crossover, it will last for a year, in during which several limited special versions from the Last Call series will be presented (translated into Russian as “last opportunity” or “last call”), the first such special version was the SRT 392 AlcHEMI.
Last December, the Stellantis Corporation quietly completed production of the related Dodge Challenger coupe and Dodge Charger sedan, but this was preceded by a farewell that lasted about a year and a half in the form of the Last Call series, within which the limited Challenger Shakedown, Charger Super Bee, Challenger and Charger were released The R/T Scat Pack Swinger, Charger King Daytona, Challenger Black Ghost and Challenger SRT Demon 170 are all equipped with V8 HEMI engines.
Now approximately the same thing will happen with the Dodge Durango crossover, and it is not yet clear how many special versions will be in its Last Call series and how long it will last — according to American media, it will include models related to the 2025 model year, among others. and the Dodge Durango SRT 392 AlcHEMI presented today belongs to 2024.
The first farewell special version is based on the standard Durango SRT 392 with a 6.4-liter V8 HEMI (482 hp, 637 Nm), 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, which costs $74,995 in stock. The prefix AlcHEMI adds $3,595 to the price tag; it does not indicate “alcohol” (in this case, meaning alcohol-containing fuel), but is a shortened version of the word “alchemist.” Alchemists, as you know, boasted of their ability to turn any base metal into gold, so the “golden” decor (in fact, yellow) became a distinctive feature of the AlcHEMI version: Brembo brake calipers are painted yellow, decorative stripes and 392 nameplates on the body are yellow-cut , and in the interior the yellow stitching is combined with “silver” (gray), the interior is also decorated with forged carbon fiber. The package also includes black 20-inch wheels and black exhaust tips.
The Durango SRT 392 AlcHEMI will be produced in an edition of 1,000 units in four colors to choose from — Diamond Black, Destroyer Gray, Vapor Gray and White Knuckle, with strictly 250 copies of the model per color. You will be able to buy a special version of the Durango from select Dodge dealers in the USA, and you will have to catch it on the special website DodgeGarage.com — that’s quite a quest.
We add that the current third generation Dodge Durango has been in production since 2010 and is at the end of its career, but it is not yet known exactly how long it will remain on the assembly line (probably from a year to two) and what model will have to replace it (perhaps it will be a Dodge Stealth). Successors to the discontinued Challenger and Charger are expected this year.
