ULAN-UDE, January 15 An earthquake of magnitude 5.7 was registered in the waters of Lake Baikal near the village of Sahuli, Kurumkansky district of Buryatia, reports the Ministry of Emergency Situations for the republic.
«At 20.52 (15.52 Moscow time) a seismic event occurred 58 kilometers northwest of the village of Sahuli, Kurumkan region. Magnitude 5.7. Energy class 14.3,» the report says.
It is noted that tremors in the territory of Buryatia were felt in the Kurumkansky, Barguzinsky, Severo-Baikalsky districts, the cities of Severobaikalsk and Ulan-Ude. Previously, there is no information about casualties and destruction.
Residents of Chita and the regions of the Trans-Baikal Territory felt the echoes of the earthquake recorded in the territory of Buryatia. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations for Transbaikalia.
