    Renault is preparing to launch new products: a joint model with Geely and the older brother Duster are on the list

    The French manufacturer summed up the results of 2023: the increase in sales of new cars of the Group’s brands worldwide amounted to 9%.

    The three main brands of the Renault Group demonstrated positive dynamics in the global market at the end of last year. In total, the Group's global sales in 2023 amounted to 2,235,345 units, this result is 9% higher than the previous year. At the same time, the Renault brand is currently the best-selling French car brand in the world.

    Renault's global result last year was 1,548,748 cars, which is 9.4% more than in 2022. The company also noted that the brand continues to lead the global light commercial vehicle market: growth in 2023 was 19.9%.

    The Group’s figure in Europe at the end of 2023 amounted to 977,635 vehicles, which is 19.3% more than a year earlier. In the domestic market, sales of Renault passenger cars last year amounted to 277,914 units. (18% more than a year earlier), and LCV – 112,569 units. (13% more). The most popular model in France remains the Clio; in Europe this car ranks third with 219,365 units.

    The company also emphasized that at the end of last year, sales of Renault brand cars increased by 26% in Europe, in the C segment and above. It is noted that this was caused by high demand for models such as Arkana, Austral, Espace E-Tech Hybrid and Megane E-Tech electric. The manufacturer also added that outside of Europe, growth in 2023 was mainly provided by the car markets of Brazil, Turkey and Morocco.

    In turn, Dacia dealers sold 562,890 cars in Europe, which corresponds to an increase of 17.4% (while the market as a whole grew by 13.9% during the period). At the end of last year, the Romanian brand rose four places and now ranks 11th in the market of new passenger cars and light commercial vehicles in the Old World. It should be noted that Alpine also recorded an increase: in 2023, the brand’s sales result was 4,328 units, which is 22.1% more than a year earlier.

    In addition to summing up the results, the Renault Group also talked about plans for 2024. Thus, the French brand intends this year to begin sales of the new generation Scenic, which has received an increase in E-Tech Electric, and also to introduce a revived hatchback with a retro design – the Renault 5 E-Tech Electric. The company also promised to release a couple of new hybrids on the European market, one of them is the Rafale E-Tech. The commercial line will be replenished with the new Renault Master (it has options with both an internal combustion engine and a fully electric “filling”).

    The company has plans in the near future and outside of Europe. Thus, the budget crossover Renault Kardian, presented last fall in Rio de Janeiro, after Brazil will be sent to other countries in Latin America, then it will reach Africa and, probably, Southeast Asia.

    Another new product for 2024 will be a mid-size crossover, which is being developed by Renault and Geely. Let us remind you that the production of the car, the name of which is still kept secret, will be established at the Renault Korea Motors plant in Busan (South Korea). It is known that it will be equipped with a hybrid installation, details will appear later.

    Dacia Bigster Concept

    Manufacturer also reminded that the new Dacia Duster will go on sale in March 2024, and a version with a “diamond” will appear later. The Romanian brand is also preparing to release a new all-electric Dacia Spring, which will reach dealers this coming summer. In addition, the manufacturer intends to introduce Duster’s “big brother” towards the end of this year – a C-segment crossover, which will be called Bigster. Let us remind you that the concept of the same name was presented at the beginning of 2021.
