Application to Rospatent for registration of two variants of the new logo was submitted by the manufacturer’s subsidiary, Avtozavod St. Petersburg.
The Russian automaker spoke about its future plans last week during a press conference dedicated, among other things, to the results of last year. AVTOVAZ President Maxim Sokolov, in particular, confirmed the company’s intention to launch another brand; there is little information about it yet. It is known that under a certain new brand it is planned to produce cars from a third-party manufacturer under license.
AVTOVAZ’s plans for the coming years
The company has not yet said who exactly will act as a “third-party manufacturer.” It is known that under the new brand AVTOVAZ initially plans to release two new products in segments C and D: at the moment they are designated only as “non-crossover” and “crossover” (non-SUV and SUV). More official details about this project will appear later.
Today it became known that a subsidiary of AVTOVAZ JSC, Avtozavod St. Petersburg, last week submitted applications to Rospatent to register two versions of the new logo. The trademark is an element similar to the letter “X” stretched horizontally with a bar in the center, while the letter is enclosed in an oval.

According to a document posted in the database of the Federal Service for Intellectual Property, the new trademark applies to a wide group of goods and services: it includes cars (including unmanned and sports cars), various spare parts, repair and maintenance of vehicles, as well as tuning and toys .
There has been no official information about the new emblem from AVTOVAZ yet. Judging by the subsidiary that submitted the application, the logo can be used to produce cars at a plant in the Northern capital. We are talking about a former Nissan enterprise, which came under the control of a Russian company at the end of 2022 (the Japanese reserved the right to buy back over the next few years).

Recall that earlier the production of the Lada X-Cross 5 crossover was launched at this site: the model is the result of badge engineering of the pre-reform “Chinese” FAW Bestune T77. It was assumed that this car would go on sale on the Russian market in the third quarter of 2023, but subsequently the company seemed to “forget” about it. This SUV ultimately did not go into production; according to unconfirmed reports, the parties abandoned the project.
It is possible that AVTOVAZ will enter into an agreement with some new partner, under whose license it will produce several models under a new brand on the St. Petersburg site. According to rumors, it may be the Chinese company Chery (so far there have been no comments from the parties about a possible partnership).
