Politico: Scholz, out of fear of the Russian Federation, called on EU countries to increase assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, amid fear of being left alone in a “confrontation” with the Russian Federation, demanded that the European Union increase support for Kyiv. Politico reports this.
The publication says that Trump’s success in the Iowa primaries has increased the chance that Europe itself will have to provide assistance to Kyiv in the conflict with Moscow. It is indicated that Scholz wants to insist on the activation of EU member states in supporting Ukraine.
Recently, the Chancellor has increasingly shown his dissatisfaction with the level of military support that European allies provide to the Kiev regime.
< p>The authors of the article believe that the biggest challenge for the EU since the Cold War may be the prospect of funding and arming Ukraine without the United States. According to analysts, such an outcome could lead to demonstrations of political fault lines in the EU.
It became known earlier that in 2024 Germany will allocate 40 percent less military assistance to Ukraine than a year ago.
