The crossover now looks like a smaller copy of the older Traverse model. As before, the SUV will be available on the domestic market with a 1.5 turbo engine, but the six-speed automatic has been replaced by two new gearboxes.
In the certification photos of the Chinese Ministry of Industry, the fresh “traditional” Chevrolet Equinox was revealed last summer (Chevy’s lineup also includes the Equinox EV electric car, but this is a completely different model). However, the crossover held its official premiere only today, and it was held in the brand’s native States. Let us remember that the previous cross (in America this is the third generation) debuted in 2016, it underwent restyling in 2020. By the way, Equinox remains the brand’s most popular SUV in the United States: at the end of last year, 212,701 units were sold there (629 more than in 2022). In China, the model has ceased to be in demand; its result in 2023 is 11,563 units. (-46%). But let's return to the new product.

The fourth generation Chevrolet Equinox is much more brutal than its predecessor: it has a sculpted body, squared-off wheel arches and a more impressive plastic body kit. The SUV also received branded two-story head optics (diode strips of running lights are located on top, and the main headlight blocks are located below). In general, the crossover looks like a smaller copy of the older Chevrolet Traverse, which entered a new generation last year. Moreover, the company does not hide this similarity, but, on the contrary, emphasizes it.

For the first time, the Equinox range includes an “off-road” version of Activ, its features are an original radiator grille, black emblems, an additional insert on the front bumper and all-terrain tires (Equinox Activ has 17-inch wheels). As before, buyers will still be able to choose the LT package or the “sportier” RS version; in the latter case, 20-inch wheels are provided for the crossover (this is also a first).

The new Chevrolet Equinox has added 59 mm in width – now 1902 mm. The remaining dimensions have remained almost unchanged: length – 4653 mm, height – 1667 mm, wheelbase – 2730 mm. The minimum trunk volume is 845 liters (measured according to local methods).

A scoreboard was installed in the cabin, and, like other new models of the brand, the instrument screen housing is located on top of the touchscreen of the multimedia system (the previous Equinox had analog scales). The crossover also received a modern climate control unit (but without sensors), and the steering column lever is now responsible for shifting gears. The list of standard equipment has been supplemented with a heated steering wheel and front seats. The base also has a rear view camera, adaptive cruise control, auto braking and lane keeping systems.

Americans will be offered the Chevrolet Equinox with an upgraded petrol engine turbo-four 1.5: the engine still produces 177 hp, but it is stated that it has become more economical. Instead of a non-alternative six-speed automatic transmission, there are now two gearboxes: the front-wheel drive cross has a CVT, the all-wheel drive is equipped with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Activ and RS versions also have a driving mode selection system.

In the States Sales of the new Equinox will start later this year, but prices have not yet been announced. The previous generation crossover there today costs from $26,600 (excluding taxes and delivery).
