The Danish company Kalmar Automotive presented an original cross-version of the Porsche 911 coupe of the 996 generation, in which you can and should go on a journey through the wild nature.
The Kalmar Automotive company, founded by Danish entrepreneur and automobile enthusiast Jan Kalmar, is engaged in the restoration of classic Porsche 911s and makes restomods based on them, including in rally style, and also organizes for its clients rides and competitions in various exotic places — for example, the Kalmar RS-6 has already taken part in the Kalmar Spirit of Speed event in northern Finland above the Arctic Circle at a temperature of -35 °C.

The Kalmar RS-6 is based on the Porsche 911 of the most unpopular 996 generation, which was produced between 1997 and 2006: this generation was developed at a time when the global auto industry was dominated by biodesign, which subsequently quickly went out of fashion and became obsolete. Connoisseurs of automobile classics do not like the Porsche 996, no one even makes restomods based on it (Porsche itself did it once), but there are many such cars on the secondary market and they are inexpensive — it was precisely this circumstance that Jan Kalmar decided to take advantage of in order to offer his clients an affordable an alternative to the factory cross-coupe Porsche 911 Dakar.

The Porsche 911 Dakar debuted in the fall of 2022. This coupe belongs to the latest 992 generation and costs from 222,000 euros; with options, the price easily goes up to 250,000 euros. Meanwhile, a Porsche 996 in more or less decent condition on the secondary market costs about 50,000 euros, and Kalmar Automotive asks for its transformation into a crossover from 45,000 euros — it turns out that you can meet the “hundredth” price.
Even the basic rear-wheel drive Porsche 996 Carrera coupe with a 300-horsepower 3.4-liter naturally aspirated boxer engine is suitable as a source for the Kalmar RS-6; for a fee, Kalmar can upgrade the engine and increase its output to 500 hp. and even higher. But it’s better, of course, to opt for the all-wheel drive versions of the Carrera 4 and Turbo, which are more powerful from the factory (320-450 hp) and are an ideal preparation for the Kalmar RS-6 crossover.
