An MMA fighter was shot in Makhachkala: what is known about the brutal murder

• A criminal case was opened into the murder of 21-year-old Mutaev under Part 1 of Art. 105 (Murder) and Part 2 of Article 222 (Illegal Weapon Trafficking) of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

The press service of the investigative department of the RF IC for Dagestan has already given the first comment on the incident. According to investigators, on January 31, 2024, in the evening, a criminal, armed with a firearm, while near a residential building located on Gaptsakhskaya Street in the city of Makhachkala, fired at least seven shots at a local resident. Mutaev died from gunshot wounds on the way to the hospital.

A source in the law enforcement agencies of the republic said that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan is looking for 18-year-old Kadirkhanov Nadyrkhan Gaziyavovich, a native of the village of Korkmaskala, on suspicion of murder.

It is also noted that the head of the department Alexander Bastrykin instructed the head of the SUSK of Russia for the Republic of Dagestan Dmitry Belyaev to present report on the progress of the criminal investigation.

As for the professional career of the murdered athlete, last year Mutaev won his debut fight: he defeated Elgun Yusibov by unanimous decision of the judges. He was supposed to return to the cage in February.
It is also known about the fighter with excellent freestyle wrestling skills that he trained at the martial arts school named after Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, the late father of ex-champion of the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC) Khabib Nurmagomedov.
