Sales of the first crossover assembled at the former Nissan Motor plant in St. Petersburg will begin this spring. What will it be like?

In 2022, the Japanese company sold its Russian assets to FSUE NAMI, and later the plant came under the management of AVTOVAZ. It was called “Lada St. Petersburg”, and initially it was planned to produce the Chinese crossover FAW Bestune T77 under the Lada brand. However, in the end, this project was abandoned without explanation; instead, a completely different car is now being prepared.

Last month, a new trademark in the form of the letter X was registered, and the press service of the Russian automaker announced the new brand Xcite (from the English word excite — “to excite”, “to excite”). According to available information, the first model will be the Chinese SUV Chery Tiggo 7 Pro, which has been on sale for several years and is very popular — according to sales results for 2023, it took fifth place with a result of 41,057 units sold. Judging by the spy photos, the Russian version, which will be named Xcite X-Cross 7, will differ from the Chinese one only in the finishing of the radiator grille, logos on it and on the trunk lid, where the brand letter will also be located.

There is no information about the technical features of the new product yet. A few words about the original: the second generation Chery Tiggo 7 was introduced at the end of 2019 in China. A year later, the model appeared on the Russian market. Its length is 4500 mm, width — 1842 mm, height — 1705 mm, wheelbase — 2670 mm. The stated ground clearance is 190 mm.

Today in Russia, the basic front-wheel drive version is equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline turbo engine with a power of 147 hp, paired with a CVT. This crossover is offered at a price of 2,570,000 rubles. The more powerful Pro Max modification is equipped with a 150-horsepower 1.6 engine, a 7-speed robotic transmission and all-wheel drive — from RUB 3,260,000. There is also a 1.5 T PHEV DHT hybrid with 235 hp. (510 Nm of torque), this version is estimated at 3,999,900 rubles.
