Six Nations table When does the 2024 Six Nations begin and end?

This year's Six Nations began on Friday evening — 2 February 2024 — when France faced Ireland in Marseille.

The final round will take place on Saturday, March 16, aka «Super Saturday», and all three matches will take place on the same day.

Summing up the first round of the Six Nations

Les Bleus are sad >

A 38-17 home defeat to Ireland left France bottom of the men's standings for the first time since they finished with the wooden spoon in 2013.

It was the first of the Six Nations era the time they conceded five tries in a home game, and the only other time they conceded more points at home was a 43-35 defeat to Wales in 2001 — in fact this is only the sixth time they have conceded 30 or more at home.

The 21-point margin made it their heaviest home defeat — they have lost just 14 of 61 such games, only their fourth-most in double figures. England won 24–13 in 2008 and 31–21 in 2016, while Wales won 16–6 in 2013.

It was only Ireland's fourth Six Nations win in France, and she broke her record for total points away to Les Bleus, having previously lost 43–31 in 2006.

Wales' response falls short

Last place was secured by Les Bleus as both Saturday games finished the same, with Wales and Italy collecting losing bonus points.

It didn't look like that. It was much the same when Warren Gatland's side went down 27-0 to Scotland shortly after the break, but James Botham's try sparked a remarkable comeback that nearly set a new Six Nations record.

Wales's own victory over France in 2019, when they were 16–0 down at half-time before winning 24–19 with two tries from George North, was the largest deficit previously overcome to win a game in the Six Nations or her predecessors. Scotland drew 31-0 against England in 2019 and 25-6 against Wales in 2001.

If Wales had managed to get the job done on Saturday, it would have been the third biggest win in Test history. .

Korea's 38–36 win over Chile in 2016 is a record, trailing by 29 points at 36–7. Fiji recovered from losses of 28-0 and 31-3 to beat Tonga 41-38 in 2010, while Chile enjoyed another stunning comeback in 2007, leading Uruguay 27-0 at half-time but losing 35- 34.

England's victory did not require such drama, although they were beaten twice in the first half in Rome. The visitors raced into a 10-point lead before Monty Ioane converted four minutes from the standard 80 to make the final score 27-24 and earn Italy a bonus point.

Who are the favorites to win the 2024 Six Nations?< ul >

  • Ireland to win:1/5
  • England to win:7/1
  • Scotland to win: 10/1
  • France to win:20/1
  • Wales to win:100/1
  • Italy to win:500/1
  • Odds correct as of February 9
