TASHKENT, February 13 Three-time world champion gymnast Oksana Chusovitina in As part of the selection for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, which could be her ninth, she will compete this week at the first stage of the World Cup in Cairo, according to the website of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Uzbekistan.
Chusovitina, as a member of the national artistic gymnastics team of Uzbekistan, on Tuesday went to Cairo for the first stage of the World Cup, which will be held on February 15-18.
“Thus, Chusovitina will compete for participation in the ninth Olympic Games in her sports career,” the message says.
Based on the results of all four stages of the World Cup, the best two gymnasts in each discipline will receive licenses for the Olympics in Paris. The fourth stage will end on April 20.
Chusovitina, who will turn 49 in June, is the only gymnast in history to compete at eight Summer Olympics. The athlete, born in Bukhara, competed for the national teams of the USSR and Germany, and currently represents Uzbekistan. In addition to the 1992 Olympic gold, she also won silver at the 2008 Beijing Games.
