Last week, information appeared that the model line of the American brand will soon expand due to an extended version of the Escalade IQ electric SUV. What will it be like?
The full-size Escalade SUV was first introduced in 1999, becoming only a slightly modified version of its sister company, the GMC Yukon Denali. The first generation was produced for only a couple of years, but starting with the second generation, production of which started in 2001, the model acquired its own face and original appearance features. In the same generation, Escalade for the first time received an extended modification with the ESV prefix. Today, the fifth generation of the flagship SUV is already on the assembly line, which premiered at the beginning of 2020, and last summer a new chapter appeared in the history of the model — the Escalade IQ electric SUV was presented. For now it exists only in the regular version, but in the future the range is expected to be expanded to include a model with a long wheelbase.

There is no information yet about what the new product will look like, but we can assume that it will be made according to the same recipe as the petrol Escalade ESV. Thus, the base will increase noticeably, which will allow the doorways to expand in the lower part, while in the upper part they will remain approximately the same. Most likely, we can expect an increase in rear overhang, similar to its traditional counterparts with the ESV prefix. The dimensions of the future new product are also unknown yet, but it is expected that it will be the largest model in the company’s range.

The electric Escalade IQ is comparable in size to the long-wheelbase ESV gasoline SUV. Its length is 5697 mm, width – 2167 mm, height – 1934 mm, and the distance between the axles is 3460 mm. For comparison, the current petrol Escalade ESV is 5,766 mm long, 2,060 mm wide, 1,941 mm high, and has a wheelbase of 3,406 mm. In technical terms, the extended electric SUV will most likely be similar to the standard one, which is equipped with a dual-motor power plant (one electric motor on each axle). The peak total output of the system is 761 hp, the maximum torque is 1064 Nm. The declared range on one charge according to the passport exceeds 724 km (when calculated according to the EPA cycle).

The new Escalade IQL is expected to debut later this year.
Meanwhile, at the end of last year, Cadillac introduced another electric model — the Vistiq crossover, which is more compact than the Escalade IQ.
