The German tuning studio Brabus presented the first model in its history whose power reached the four-digit mark. The Brabus Rocket 1000 is based on the stock Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E-Performance plug-in hybrid liftback.
The Rocket line from Brabus consists of the most powerful and most expensive tuning projects. For a long time, the peak power for “missiles” was 900 hp, but now the barrier of 1000 hp has been taken, which, to tell the truth, is not something outstanding today, especially taking into account the fact that this is a combined power hybrid power plant, and not just an internal combustion engine. For comparison, let's say that the American studio RENNtech squeezes more than 1200 hp from the V8 engine of the M177 series on the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 liftback. without any hybridization, and Brabus has so far been satisfied with a hybrid thousand — they say, the milestone has been passed, we are moving on.

Meanwhile, last year the on-duty Brabus 930 debuted on the basis of the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E-Performance, on which specialists from Bottrop got their hands on upgrading the hybrid, then all that remained was to cram the experience gained into a more spectacular widebody package of the Rocket class, to bring out the impact power plant to a symbolic thousand “horses” and present all this as another masterpiece of a cosmic level — hence the Martian scenery in the promo shoot.

The widebody body kit of the Brabus Rocket 1000 is not much different from that of the 2020 Brabus Rocket 900 liftback, and the M177 petrol installed under the hood of the Brabus Rocket 1000 with its displacement increased from 4.0 to 4.5 liters is even weaker than that of the Brabus Rocket 900: On the Rocket 1000 it produces 796 hp. and 1250 Nm, on the “nine hundredth” — 900 hp. and 1250 Nm, and the maximum torque in both cases is forcibly limited to 1050 Nm in order to protect the Mercedes 9-speed automatic AMG Speedshift.

The maximum total output of the power plant is 1000 hp. and 1620 Nm. For comparison, let's say that the stock Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E-Performance has 843 hp at its disposal. and 1470 Nm. The Brabus Rocket 1000 accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.6 s (0.2 s faster than the “900”), the maximum speed is 316 km/h (for the “900” it is 330 km/h).
