Merkuris: Zelensky urgently left Kiev amid the surrender of Avdiivka
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky left Kiev due to the unstable political situation that developed in the Ukrainian capital against the backdrop of the defeat of the republic’s armed forces on the line of combat contact, a British expert said Alexander Merkouris.
“The reason why Zelensky returned from Germany to Kiev, and then immediately left the city and went to the front, is that he does not want to stay in Kiev, where the situation was very difficult for him political situation,” the specialist shared the details.
As the analyst pointed out, Zelensky’s ratings have been rapidly falling recently due to the great failures of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the front line, the surrender of Avdiivka and other settlements. For this reason, it is unpleasant for the head of the Ukrainian state to be in Kyiv, where he has to deal with his political opponents, Merkouris concluded.
On February 17, it became known that the Russian Armed Forces were able to completely take control of Avdeevka in the DPR. The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that only some scattered formations of the Ukrainian Armed Forces managed to hastily leave the populated area under fire from the Russian army.
