Online platform Avito Auto and the Moscow Transport Museum conducted a survey among Russians and found out what they think about the future of transport. Residents of Russia would like to switch to driverless urban transport and expect the emergence of new models that are environmentally friendly.
The survey participants also suggested what type of urban transport will be the most common in the future. The majority of respondents gave their preference to unmanned ground transport (48%), rail transport came in second (28%), followed by micromobility (22%).
Also, according to the survey, 75% of Russians would like to switch to electric vehicles. Of these, 28% are ready to purchase an electric car in the event of infrastructure development (charging stations, etc.), 13% — in the case of bonuses from the state (subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles). Every fifth person believes that buying an electric car will help improve the environmental situation in the city; 14% noted this type of transport as more economical due to the difference in prices for electricity and gasoline and less frequent maintenance.
It is interesting that the issue of ecology worries a large number of Russians. It turned out that 46% of respondents expect new types of transport that are safe for nature more than other transport inventions in mass production. 35% of survey participants named smart roads with automatic traffic control and charging functions for electric vehicles as such an invention.
The survey was conducted in February 2024 by the online platform Avito Auto and the Moscow Transport Museum among 10,000 people throughout Russia. The survey is timed to coincide with the joint exhibition of the platform and the museum “You are here. Always. Today. The day after tomorrow», which takes place in the USSR Transport pavilion at VDNKh. The exhibition tells how a person, a city dweller and a passenger, and his needs became the center of changes in the transport environment and the city. At the exhibition you can see futuristic prototypes of transport, including an installation of an unmanned vehicle developed jointly with Avito Auto. The transparent, full-size concept car represents a safe car buying experience today and in the future.
The installation can be viewed in the third area of the exhibition, “Expected Future”. Here are technologies and innovations that can be integrated into the city's transport system by 2035. Visitors can take a multimedia journey through the city of the future. Each route is unique and is built taking into account the wishes of the “passenger”.
