With its help, you can pay for travel on public transport at reduced rates, and you do not need to have supporting documents with you. The virtual “Resident Card” is available entirely in electronic form — on Android smartphones with NFC technology support.
«The Resident Card was originally created as a universal key to digital social services and important information resources of the region. Now we are updating the project portal, creating new opportunities. Already now, Nizhny Novgorod residents can be the first in the country to issue a virtual «Resident Card of the Nizhny Novgorod Region» in a mobile application It will become a convenient replacement for “plastic,” the press service of the regional government quotes Nikitin as saying.
You can issue a virtual “Resident Card” through the mobile application of the same name for smartphones on the Android operating system with the NFC function. After authorization through “Government Services”, users will have access to the “Issue a virtual card” function.

When you issue a regular card, the default fare for paying for travel will be “60 minutes with free transfer” for all types of public transport. When issuing a card for preferential categories of citizens, one of the preferential rates will be recorded.
As noted in the Center for Coordination of Digital Economy Projects, among the innovations is registration on the portal and in the mobile application after authorization through the unified identification and authentication system (USIA) on State Services. Authorization using “State Services” will also need to be completed by users previously registered in another way.
“Previously, it was an entrance by phone number, now the entrance to the “Resident Card” is carried out through the “Government Services”. It is both safe and fast. Next, Nizhny Novgorod residents can use all the capabilities of the portal. For example, apply for a virtual card and pay for travel using a smartphone with the installed «Resident Card» application. In the near future, we plan to expand the functionality with useful social services,» said Deputy Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod Region Egor Polyakov.
Today, services for receiving benefits for certain categories of citizens, “School Student Card” and “Student Card” are also available to users.

«Currently, data from previously issued cards is being loaded into the system. This takes some time, so not all users can immediately see their cards. But gradually all previously issued cards will be displayed in the user’s profile,» — the message says.
In the latest version of the application, functions are available for parents to manage the “Student Card”, transmission of meter readings in the “Housing and Public Utilities” section, and tracking of previously paid receipts are available. These functions are also available on the official project portal: nn-card.ru.
