Member of the scientific committee of the Challenge Prize, head of the Yandex machine intelligence laboratory Alexander Krainov took part in the plenary session of the VI International Forum “Step into the Future: Artificial Intelligence and Digital Economy”. The opening session of the forum program was dedicated to the topic of personnel for the data economy. The venue for the forum was the Russian Economic University. G. V. Plekhanov.
Ensuring the personnel sovereignty of the IT sector is a task on which business, government, schools and higher education institutions are working together. As a representative of a high-tech company, Alexander Krainov noted that in Russian universities there is a high level of fundamental mathematical training of specialists, but with the training of personnel with modern and applied knowledge to work in the field of AI, the situation is not so positive. And the first thing that needs to be done in this regard is to objectively assess how things are going with the training of such specialists.
“The first necessary step that we have to take is to learn to clearly measure how the situation with the training of specialists. Improvements in the field of AI occur when we can accurately, ideally and without deceiving ourselves measure the results obtained,” said Alexander Krainov.
Scientific and technological development is included in the list of national priorities Russia, and the role of science as the basis for the sovereign development of the state is outlined in the Strategy for Scientific and Technological Development of the Russian Federation. The National Future Technology Challenge Award is dedicated to the Decade of Science and Technology announced in 2022 and is designed to recognize breakthrough ideas and inventions that are changing the landscape of modern science and the lives of every person. The founder of the prize is the Foundation for the Development of Scientific and Cultural Relations “Challenge” together with Gazprombank with the support of the Moscow government. The general partner of the award is the state corporation Rosatom.
