The iCar V23 crossover from Chery is presented together with the related iCar X25 crossover

Chery held a presentation in China of the compact electric crossover V23 of its new subsidiary brand iCar and highlighted another new product — the single-volume iCar crossover X25. The design of both new products emphasizes the adventurous spirit of the iCar brand.

Chery is one of the main adherents of the multi-brand strategy in the auto industry, Russian motorists have already thoroughly tasted it, but the iCar brand has not yet reached us. The iCar brand was launched exactly a year ago, its first-born — the electric compact crossover iCar 03 — entered the home market in December, in a number of foreign markets (for example, Thailand) it will be sold as Jaecoo 6. The second production model of iCar will be the V23 crossover, close similar in size to iCar 03, but with a more brutal appearance.

The iCar brand is addressed to young city dwellers who love to hang out on social networks, but at the same time are ready to go on vacation with friends out of town at any time. The iCar logo in the form of the letter “i” was designed by Cao Xue, the designer of the mascot (panda) of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games. In the appearance of the iCar V23, the letter “i” is reflected in the shape of decorative trims under the turn signals on the front wings. In general, the design of the iCar V23 is a collection of quotes from legendary SUVs: in the Chinese car you can see features of the Land Rover Defender, Jeep Wrangler, Mercedes-Benz G-Class and Toyota Land Cruiser J40.

The interior of the iCar V23 has approximately the same square-nested architecture as the interior of the iCar 03, but differs from the latter in a more advanced design and has a separate microclimate unit with three classic rotating handles — this is an utter rarity for modern Chinese cars. The square patch on the hinged tailgate has a built-in light and is designed to store the charging cable.

Overall length of the iCar V23 is 4220 mm, width is 1915 mm, height is 1845 mm, wheelbase is 2730 mm, ground clearance is 206-212 mm depending on the modification. There is no information about power plants yet, it is only known that the iCar V23 will enter the market in the second half of this year as an electric car (rear-wheel drive with one electric motor and all-wheel drive with two electric motors), later the range will be replenished with plug-in hybrid versions of the range extender type with a gasoline engine in role as an electric range extender.

A year ago As part of the presentation of the iCar brand, along with the iCar 03 crossover, the iCar GT electric coupe with a 2+2 seating arrangement was announced, but it has not yet become serial — the next new products will be various crossovers. Today, at the presentation of the iCar V23, the spectacular single-volume iCar X25 crossvan with impressive ground clearance, cameras instead of mirrors and a double-hinged tailgate was rolled out onto the stage. There are no technical details about this model yet. It is expected that over the next two to three years the iCar product line will grow to six to eight models.
