Mahindra's budget crossover based on the SsangYong Tivoli has undergone a radical restyling

The compact SUV has not only changed outside and inside, but also changed its name. In addition, the model received a new automatic machine.

The Indian crossover Mahindra XUV 3XO (with the letter “o”), announced in early April, held its official premiere. The manufacturer itself considers the five-door a completely new separate model, but in fact, this is a modernized Mahindra XUV300. Let us remember that the original SUV has been on the domestic market since 2019, it is made on the basis of the SsangYong Tivoli (the Korean brand previously belonged to Mahindra, today it has a different owner and a different name — KG Mobility).

The exterior is designed in a new angular style, introduced two years ago. The Mahindra XUV 3XO crossover has acquired vertical headlight units with broken LED “horseshoes” of daytime running lights, and the new rear lights are united by a luminous plate. Compared to the XUV300, the bumpers, hood and tailgate are also different, and the wheel arches now feature more massive unpainted linings. Along with 16-inch wheels for cross-country racing, you can also choose 17-inch ones.

The length of the new SUV is 3990 mm, which is 5 mm less than the pre-reform model (and in general, cars with a length of less than four meters are entitled to tax benefits in India). The height, on the contrary, has been increased by 20 mm to 1647 mm. The width and wheelbase have not changed — 1821 and 2600 mm, respectively.

Inside, there is a new front panel, steering wheel and multimedia system, and a large tablet now rises above the panel, rather than being built into it. True, multimedia is included only starting with the second-oldest configuration. The list of equipment of expensive versions was also supplemented by a virtual tidy, wireless charging for a smartphone, a panoramic sunroof (the XUV300 has a regular sunroof), all-round cameras, adaptive cruise control (previously there was a regular “cruise”), auto braking systems, and lane keeping systems. and monitoring of “blind” spots.

Like the XUV300, the Mahindra XUV 3XO SUV is available with 1.2 TCMPFi petrol turbo engines (but it added 1 hp — now 111 hp) and 1.2 TGDi (130 hp), you can also choose a 1.5 turbodiesel (117 hp .With.). All engines continue to be mated to a six-speed manual transmission. For diesel engines, a robotic gearbox is still provided as an alternative, but gasoline engines are now equipped with a classic six-speed automatic transmission from Aisin. There was no all-wheel drive, and there is no – only front-wheel drive. Note that the Mahindra XUV300 still has a pure electric variant, but it is considered a separate model of the XUV400. It is likely that the electric car will also be updated and renamed later.

In India, orders for the Mahindra XUV 3XO will begin to be accepted from May 15, while prices have already been announced: the SUV will cost 749,000 — 1,549,000 rupees, which is equivalent to approximately 839,000 — 1,734,000 rubles at the current exchange rate. The Mahindra XUV300 crossover is still in service, and its basic version costs more — from 799,000 rupees (about 895,000 rubles).

The XUV 3XO is expected to be exported, however, as well as in the case of the XUV300, such a cross will most likely appear only in countries with left-hand traffic.
