We continue to accept applications for the 2024 National Award in the Field of Future Technologies “Challenge”. Deputy Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Challenge Prize Alexey Fedorov spoke about how this award differs from other scientific awards, about the 2024 nominations, the criteria for selecting laureates and the prize fund.
Alexey Fedorov noted that the Challenge Prize is awarded for developments that have significant potential to change people’s lives for the better and have a practical implementation horizon of up to ten years. This and the ability of the award to self-nominate distinguishes it from many others.
“When we review applications, we imagine ourselves transported into the future ten years from today. The focus of the Challenge Prize is the technologies of the future, so it is important for us to create conditions under which the achievements of the laureates reach the next level of technological development,” commented Alexey Fedorov.
The Challenge Award has five nominations this year. Several questions were devoted to the international nomination that appeared in 2024 – Discovery. Alexey Fedorov answered who can apply for this nomination.

The National Prize in the field of future technologies “Challenge” was established by the Foundation for the Development of Scientific and Cultural Relations “Challenge” together with Gazprombank. The partners of the award are the state corporation Rosatom and the Roscongress Foundation with the support of the Moscow government. The Challenge Prize is timed to coincide with the Decade of Science and Technology announced in 2022 and is designed to recognize breakthrough ideas and inventions that are changing the landscape of modern science and the lives of every person.
