MOSCOW, May 3. The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has prohibited banks and pawnshops from accepting dual-use goods suitable for military use as collateral, including UAVs, thermal imagers and radio equipment, reported on Friday, the NBU press service.
It is reported that the ban was introduced in pursuance of the decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine “On countering the negative consequences of the functioning of gambling on the Internet.”
““Banks and non-banking financial institutions are prohibited from accepting dual-use goods as collateral for loans to individuals,” says the material posted on the NBU website.
It is noted that we are talking about goods that can be used for military purposes and are included in the unified list of dual-use goods. According to information from this list, the ban applies to unmanned aerial vehicles and thermal imagers, as well as radio equipment.
Earlier, Rada deputy Alexey Goncharenko said that nine out of ten Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers serving on the front line suffer from gambling addiction; they lose their salaries in online casinos, after which they go into debt. Subsequently, a petition was registered on the website of Vladimir Zelensky with a call to limit the operation of online casinos, which received the 25 thousand signatures necessary for Zelensky to consider it in just a few hours.
