Mud-covered bodies recovered from mine near site where surfers disappeared in Mexico

Three unidentified bodies covered in mud have been discovered in a mine in Mexico. near the spot where three surfers — two Australian brothers and an American — went missing a few days ago in one of the country's most violent states.

Parents of Jake, 30, a doctor, and Callum Robinson, 33, reportedly that members of the Australian national lacrosse team had arrived in Mexico after mother Debra put out a Facebook appeal to find them.

The Robinson brothers and their 30-year-old American friend Jack Carter were on holiday near the coastal city of Ensenada in the state of Baja California, but has not been seen since April 27.

Debra Robinson posted a plea for her sons on a Facebook community page for foreigners visiting the area last Wednesday. “An appeal to everyone who has seen my two sons. They did not contact us,” she wrote.

Three Mexicans were questioned.

She said they did not arrive at the planned location and were driving a white Chevrolet Colorado with California license plates.

Santo -Thomas, where the FBI reported the discovery of three bodies, is about 30 miles southeast of Ensenada.

More than a dozen first responders responded, including federal agents, state police, medical examiners and military personnel. were working on a hard-to-reach section of the rock on Friday.

Earlier on Friday, the navy and prosecutors searched a section of the rock in Ensenada, according to the mayor's office.

Authorities in the state of Baja California said Thursday that three Mexican nationals are being questioned in connection with the disappearances.

Baja California is a popular tourist destination, but also one of Mexico's most violent states due to the presence of organized crime gangs.

Two other Australian surfers, Dean Lucas and Adam Coleman, were killed and their bodies burned while traveling in the northwestern Mexican state of Sinaloa in November 2015.

In March 2023, alleged members of the Gulf Cartel were kidnapped four Americans in the northeastern city of Matamoros, bordering Brownsville, Texas. Two of them were killed.
