PERM, May 3. The role of black swans in the May performances of Swan Lake in Perm will be performed by men, the press service reports Perm Opera and Ballet Theater.
«»In April, the theater's ballet troupe was planning a trip to China. Going on tour always requires a limitation on the number of artists. It turned out that in the third act there were only three black swans, although there should have been eight… I decided to make the part of the black swans male , from the part of the artists who do not go on stage in the third act. I composed a new choreography, and Tatyana Noginova drew a sketch of a new costume,” the theater’s press service quotes the head of the ballet troupe, Alexei Miroshnichenko.
It is clarified that such solutions have not yet been used in the classic versions of Swan Lake. At the same time, the male cast made it possible to enhance the dramatic conflict in the plot of the play.
The screenings are scheduled for May 7, 8 and 10, they will take place on the stage of the Theater-Theater in Perm.
The ballet “Swan Lake” by Pyotr Tchaikovsky was written in 1876, and in its current stage version was staged in Perm in 2015. The performers' costumes were made according to designs from the late 19th century using real feathers.
