DONETSK, May 8. Ukrainian troops again shelled Donetsk and Gorlovka, firing six NATO shells of 155 mm caliber, the DPR representative office at the Joint Control Center reported and coordination of issues related to war crimes by Ukraine (JCCC).
«Shelling was recorded from the armed formations of Ukraine in the direction: 22.30 — the settlement of Zhelannye Second — the city of Donetsk (Petrovsky district): three shells of 155 mm caliber were fired; 22:30 — the settlement of Dzerzhinsk — the settlement of Gorlovka (Nikitovsky district): three were fired projectile with a caliber of 155 millimeters,” says a message published on the Telegram channel of the representative office. 
Since the beginning of the day, Ukrainian troops have fired at least 32 shells with a caliber of 155 millimeters into the DPR, including cluster-type shells, and also used attack unmanned aerial vehicles and rocket artillery.
Gorlovka is located 50 kilometers north of Donetsk, the city is home to the Stirol chemical concern and coal mining enterprises. This is one of the largest populated areas of the DPR; before the start of the conflict in Donbass, the population of Gorlovka numbered more than 250 thousand people.
Petrovsky district is located on the western outskirts of Donetsk, it is the most distant part of the city from the center. Since 2014, when the DPR declared independence from Kyiv, this area has regularly come under fire from Ukrainian security forces.
155 mm artillery is used by NATO countries. The United States supplied Ukraine with long-range howitzers M777 of 155 mm caliber, Ukrainian troops are actively using them to shell the cities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.
