ST. PETERSBURG, May 10. The first victims were pulled out of a bus that fell into the river in St. Petersburg by the crew of a pleasure boat and eyewitnesses, the press service of the city governor’s office said in a statement.
It is reported that an accident with a bus in St. Petersburg occurred at 13.02. Five minutes later an ambulance arrived at the scene, within 20 minutes 16 teams were already working on the scene, then three more teams arrived. The signal about a traffic accident was received by the Ministry of Emergency Situations at 13.05.
«Within 7 minutes, the first rescuers arrived. After 12 minutes, divers were on the spot. The Ministry of Emergency Situations involved 59 personnel and 13 pieces of equipment in the rescue operation. Rescuers pulled 7 people out of the flooded bus. And the first victims who got out through the hatch were pulled out of the water the crew of the pleasure boat, which happened to be close to the scene of the tragedy, as well as eyewitnesses,” the statement says.
It is noted that there were 15 passengers and a driver on the bus. The victims were sent to medical institutions in the city.
Earlier, the press service of the regional headquarters of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reported that a bus fell from a bridge into the Moika River in St. Petersburg. According to the Main Investigative Directorate of the Russian Investigative Committee for St. Petersburg, the number of deaths as a result of the bus falling into the Moika River has increased to 7.
