Ford is preparing for the premiere of the successor to its compact crossover EcoSport, but in the meantime, using the available information, we have formed our own idea of the appearance of the upcoming new items.
The EcoSport model has been in production since 2003, the first generation was created in the Brazilian development center based on the first generation European compact van Fusion and was sold exclusively in Latin America. Starting from the second generation, which premiered in 2012, the model has become global. It also reached Russia, the crossover was even produced in Naberezhnye Chelny at the Ford Sollers joint venture from 2014 to 2019, and in 2016, the online magazine kolesa.ru conducted a test drive of the SUV. After several updates, the most significant of which occurred in 2017, this model was produced until recently. However, soon it should be replaced by a completely new car, what will it be like?

We now have a patent image of the crossover in a three-quarter front view. It shows that the design will become more mature and will be designed in the style of some of the latest Ford products, including the latest generations of Mondeo and Edge. The front part is almost vertical, the grille is combined with side lights, made in the form of several horizontal stripes on each side. In the latest fashion, the main headlight units are made separate and located slightly lower in the bumper. The A-pillars will be hidden, and the roof can be made in contrast, as hinted at by the connector in the rear pillars. The crossover will receive traditional door handles with a “natural grip”, and among the features of the sidewalls one can note the arched stamping above the rear wheel arches. There are no images of the rear part yet, we can only assume that it will also be made in the style of the new Ford models and will receive horizontal LED strips of side lights consistent with the front optics.

At the beginning of this year it became known that production of the Ecosport model in Europe was being curtailed due to falling demand. Initially, it was assumed that it would not have a direct successor, and that its place would be taken by a Puma crossover of similar dimensions. However, a patent image that appeared not long ago suggests that Ford is still preparing a new compact SUV. It is expected to be offered with different types of powertrains — both internal combustion engines and fully electric ones.
