The new brand is aimed at young families. And the automaker itself considers the Tesla Model Y to be the main competitor of the L60 SUV.
Kolesa.ru reported in March of this year that the Chinese company Nio intends to launch its own sub-brand. And now an official presentation has been held in China. The global name of the brand is Onvo: according to the idea of marketers, this word is derived from On Voyage. In Chinese the name sounds like Ledao. The new brand will produce simpler and cheaper cars than the Nio models themselves. Moreover, Onvo cars are addressed primarily to young families. Well, let’s add a rather apt wording from the popular local publication Autohome: if Nio is Lexus, then Onvo/Ledao is Toyota. The first-born of the brand was a coupe-shaped electric SUV with the index L60.

It is reported that Raul Pires, who previously worked at Bentley, worked on the appearance of the Onvo crossover. However, there is nothing revolutionary in the exterior design. Onvo L60 has a two-tier headlights, a smooth nose and frameless doors with retractable handles, and taillights are made in the form of narrow stripes.
The length of the electric cross is 4828 mm, width – 1930 mm, height – 1616 mm, wheelbase – 2950 mm. That is, in terms of its dimensions, the five-door is close to the Tesla Model Y. By the way, it is the Tesla model that is considered the main competitor of the Onvo L60: the Chinese, without any hesitation, have released several promotional videos in which they directly compare their brainchild with the Model Y. The aerodynamic drag coefficient Cd of the new product – 0.229 versus 0.23 for Tesla. Onvo L60 is built on a platform with McPherson struts at the front and a five-link at the rear, both spring suspensions, but the shock absorbers are adaptive.

The interior has not yet been completely declassified. Judging by the available branded pictures, the Onvo L60 has a laconic front panel with a 17.2-inch tablet in the center. There is no separate instrument panel, instead there is a 13-inch head-up display. The list of equipment also includes a glass roof, an 8-inch screen for rear passengers, cameras and radar. But lidar will remain the prerogative of Nio models.

There is no word yet on the engines. It is assumed that the Onvo L60 will be offered with dual-motor all-wheel drive. The batteries are the same as those of the mother Nio models: with a capacity of 75, 100 or 150 kWh. The passport power reserve is 555, 730 or “1000+” km. The SUV has a 900-volt electrical system. And the average electricity consumption in the local CLTC cycle is 12.1 kWh/100 km versus 12.5 kWh for the base Tesla Model Y.
Currently, the preliminary starting price of Onvo L60 has been announced — 219,900 yuan, which is equivalent to approximately 2,773,000 rubles at the current exchange rate. For comparison, Tesla Model Y now costs from 249,900 yuan (3,152,000 rubles). Meanwhile, the Nio range also includes a cross-coupe, with two models: the new generation EC6 SUV will cost at least 358,000 yuan (4,515,000 rubles), and the older five-door EC7 costs from 458,000 yuan (5,776,000 rubles).< br />

In China, sales of the Onvo L60 electric cross will begin in September. It is possible that the model will subsequently reach other countries, but it is not a fact that outside of China it will appear under a separate Onvo brand: in export markets, the SUV may well enter the Nio range.
