ST. PETERSBURG, May 17. The Singing Bridges season will begin in St. Petersburg on the night of May 18, when for the first time this year the Palace Bridge will be raised to classical music, the press service of the city government reports.
“Laser graphics associated with the Year of the Family in Russia and a number of significant anniversaries will be projected onto the spans of the constructed crossing. This year marks the 225th anniversary of the birth of Alexander Pushkin, 220 of Mikhail Glinka, 125 of Vladimir Nabokov, 135 of Anna Akhmatova, 130 of Mikhail Zoshchenko and Vitaly Bianki,” the government press service reported.
Such attention to the anniversaries of writers is not accidental — the season of “Singing Bridges” traditionally opens during the St. Petersburg International Book Salon on Palace Square.
«For St. Petersburg, «Singing Bridges» is already a tradition, although it began relatively recently — in 2016. This show combines the historical and cultural heritage of the city with modern technologies. It symbolizes beauty and harmony Petersburg and remains in the memory and hearts of residents and guests of the city for a long time,” said Governor Alexander Beglov.
During this ninth season of the Singing Bridges, the Palace Bridge will be raised to symphonic music more than 50 times. As part of the project, various playlists will be played, including those dedicated to important dates and events. The leitmotif of the start of the new season of “Singing Bridges” will be the 30th anniversary of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg, which will be celebrated at the end of the year.
The “Singing Bridges” show is supported by the publication “Petersburg Diary” and the Committee for Press and Media Relations. Since 2016, it has been viewed by more than 20 million people. The project is firmly included in the list of the top 25 of the unified calendar of events of the Committee for the Development of Tourism of St. Petersburg.
