Choosing the team of the season is an almost impossible task, not least because more than one player is often superior at one position.

This campaign is notable for the number of strikers who have been at the top his game, and it’s hard not to mention Dominic Solanke and Alexander Isak.

In midfield, Alexis McAllister has impressed at Liverpool, but finding space for him is also difficult. Defensively he was less formidable, although Arsenal fans argue that both Ben White and Gabriel should be selected. Impressive full-backs have been in short supply, and while it was tempting to include Tottenham's Destiny Udogi or even Fulham's Anthony Robinson, this is a team that would benefit from a back three.

The choice has been made. out of the top six, which may seem obvious, but Manchester City and Arsenal deserve to dominate as they have, of course, dominated the Premier League.

    Micky van de Ven

Is there anyone faster than the Tottenham defender? He had a hugely impressive debut season and it was a shame that he was hampered by a hamstring injury. Up to this point, he may have been a signatory to the campaign.
