Top manager of Russian Railways subsidiary Cherkezov was sent under house arrest

MOSCOW, May 20. Moscow's Cheryomushkinsky Court placed Georgy Cherkezov, top manager of a Russian Railways subsidiary, under house arrest on charges of major fraud, the court's press service reported.< br />“By a court decision, the first deputy general director of JSC VRK-1, Georgy Georgievich Cherkezov, was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of house arrest <…> until July 19, 2024, with the establishment of certain prohibitions for the period of house arrest,” they said in court.

The press service noted that he was charged under part four of Article 159 of the Criminal Code “Fraud on an especially large scale.”

According to the investigation, Cherkezov, using information that he had by virtue of his position, for the purpose of personal enrichment, he organized the conclusion of contacts at a reduced cost, which caused Russian Railways material damage on a large scale.
