In Nizhny Novgorod, a case was opened against a flayer who beat a cat to death

NIZHNY NOVGOROD, May 21.A criminal case for cruelty to animals was opened against a resident of Nizhny Novgorod who beat a cat, after which the animal died, reports the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Earlier, a video from an intercom camera was published in local Telegram channels of a man setting his dog on a cat and then kicking the animal several times. After that, according to eyewitnesses, the man continued to abuse the animal. The cat died. Witnesses to the incident called the police.

As reported at the police station, a drunk man was detained by patrol officers.

«In relation to the man, who was previously repeatedly convicted of theft and robbery, administrative materials were drawn up for disobedience to the lawful order of a police officer, petty hooliganism and appearing in a public place while drunk. In addition, a criminal case was opened for Article 245 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (cruelty to animals),” the department said in a statement.
It is noted that the law provides for a maximum penalty of up to 3 years in prison for cruelty to animals.
