The launch of production of models of the revived domestic brand is scheduled for the end of this year.
The fact that in Russia they will make Volgas again, they have been saying for a long time. And now this has been officially confirmed: the first display of new Volga brand products was held as part of the IX conference “Digital Industry of Industrial Russia” taking place these days in Nizhny Novgorod. The brand's stand was visited by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Three models were demonstrated at the exhibition: the Volga C40 sedan, the Volga K30 and Volga K40 crossovers. It is reported that JSC “Production of Passenger Cars” will be responsible for the release of the new line. Production will be established at the site of the Nizhny Novgorod automobile cluster — at facilities where previously “contract production of passenger models was carried out.” Probably, they meant the cars of the Volkswagen concern that left the Russian market. According to the plan, production of Volga models will start this year, and from 2025 the enterprise will switch to full cycle mode.
“The planned number of personnel involved in car production is about 2 thousand employees. The most important part of the project will be deep localization of components ensuring their high level of quality,” noted the Volga press service.

The technology partner of the revived brand has not been named. Apparently, it was the Chinese company Changan. In particular, the Volga C40 sedan in profile resembles the Changan Raeton Plus (length — 4800 mm, wheelbase — 2770 mm), the Volga K40 crossover is similar to the Changan Uni-Z (4730/2795 mm), and the Volga K30 crossover is similar to the Changan X5 Plus (4540/2715 mm). Let us remind you that SUVs came under the parent brand Changan quite recently — previously they were presented under the “prestigious” sub-brand Oshan.
